Why the Re-Brand?

Back in 2014, when I initially created the ClassicMustangs429 Instagram page... I had no plans for it to grow into what it has become today, nor did I ever think about starting a YouTube channel at that time. I was just a kid looking to reach out to other car crazy people in the classic car hobby! I was able to grow the account quite quickly and connect with individuals around the globe! With all that being said, I am beyond grateful to call some of these individuals close friends today.

The whole YouTube channel was sparked thanks to my good friend Kevin (Junkyard Digs) around mid 2017. Through the YouTube channel I was able to create something of my own, based off of the cars we had collected over the years, the shows/events we go to yearly and some of the cool places I've been able to visit along the way. Already having a decent following on Instagram it was a no brainer to essentially link the two together... and so began Classicmustangs429 YouTube.

Now, looking back at the videos shared on the YouTube channel... it's clear to see the main model of car that dominates majority of the videos is... you guessed it... the Ford Mustang. Makes sense right? Especially having "Classic Mustangs" apart of the Channel name. However, the collection of cars that we have collected over the years as mentioned previously is not entirely Mustangs. Having a Entre of GM vehicles and side dish of Mopars... it was only a matter of time before I would begin wanting to share these with the viewers on YouTube.

And so the predicament... Keep the CM429 name and start implementing GM and Mopar videos in with the other FoMoCo videos on the channel OR Rebrand to a more neutral name that fits for all things classic cars?

Well, I decided to make a pole on YouTube (a while back) asking my Subscribers if they would rather me keep the CM429 name and just throw in the other content, or if I should change my name since it's no longer strictly Mustangs...pole came back in majority to keep the CM429 name. However, Deep down, the name was bugging me at this point. If I kept the CM429 name and began posting other content besides FoMoCo Vehicles, Lets use a 69 Dart or a 69 Firebird as an example... would people outside of my current subscribers want to watch the video seeing a title about a 69 Dart or a 69 Firebird posted on a "Mustang" channel? Would a die hard GM or Mopar person click that video? I'd have to say no. That's like a person who only eats at McDonalds and hates Wendy's, going to Wendy's because they now offer "McDonalds burgers"... 9 out of 10 would continue going to McDonalds. So after a long while of thinking it over, I decided it was time for a change.

Which brings us to the Re-Brand, in comes "The Old Car Channel". Nice and simple, easy to remember, all things old/ classic cars! For those of you curious, worry not I'll still be posting the same content as before just with a few new additions! Before, we pretty well posted videos of us getting the old classics back on the road (we'll still be doing that) but, we'll also be adding vlog/ informative videos pertaining to a specific topic in between the build videos. Another addition is a website which will feature merchandise (if you wish to support the channel in another way) and a Blog/article section (what you are in/reading at the moment). With all this rebranding, that's only a little piece of the content puzzle. Moving forward we will be making the leap into full time YouTube and striving to post consistently once a week and eventually make the leap to 2 videos a week!

Hopefully this cleared up a few things in regards to the rebrand and I look forwards to connecting with everyone through the "new" channel and website!

Thank you for your continued support,

Mike
